Art Technique of the Month

A once a month club where you'll get a taster of a different art technique every time! Led by our fabulous artist, Meg Bonser, she'll get you experimenting and developing your artistic skills. All abilities welcome. Come along to which ever ones take your fancy, or join us for all!


Dec - Abstract Acrylics
Look at artists' work, develop your own complimentary colour palette and create a unique abstract painting - whether you stick to the rules with a neat geometric print, or its all about colour and brush strokes! A great one if you want to try something a bit different.

Jan - Easy Landscapes

Experiment with collage to make layered landscapes, full of colour and texture! A super easy technique, ideal for using up scrap paper with great results on any scale.

Feb - Observational Shells
Improve your drawing skills with some beginner-friendly techniques using pencil, pen and ink. Expect to go home with lots of lovely shell drawings you didn’t know you could do!
 
March - Easy Seascapes
Have a go at making lovely seascape paintings. Get to grips with using a variety of brushes and tools with acrylic paints, as well as mixing and blending colours. We’ll make pieces all about colour rather than precise detail.
 
April - DIY Printmaking
Try out a variety of printmaking techniques which can easily be replicated at home including; gelli printing, cardboard stamps and a super easy lino printing technique. You can also turn your prints into cards if you wish.

Illustrating People Taster

A one-off adult workshop from professional illustrator, Katy Dynes. Katy will focus on simple self portraiture, expression and looking at sketching people in situ using a variety of different mediums to draw and illustrate people quickly and effectively. A fabulous introduction to sketching people for beginners.

Improvers Watercolour

This course is ideal if you've painted in the past and you fancy picking it up again.
Aimed at those with some experience of watercolour painting, or who have completed our Beginners course. We will revise key techniques, learn how to simplify a subject and work on form, tone and colour.

The current class has been painting for a while so this course is currently suitable for those who have done a small amount of painting before. A new class for complete beginners will start soon.

Intermediate Watercolour

A wonderful introduction to the medium of pastels - develop your drawing skills and master the techniques of working with pastels and their beautiful range of colours.

Silk Painting

If you have ever wondered how a design is put onto a silk scarf, then this is the workshop for you!

Spend a peaceful day learning how to place a design on silk, how to create a clear outline of your design and how to apply paint to the silk. You will create a beautiful piece of art work to take home and perhaps even wear as a scarf.
